One-line pitch

ContextDrop converts PDFs into clean, AI-ready markdown so you can use them in Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor without burning your token budget.

Short description (50 words)

ContextDrop is a tiny Mac menu bar app that converts PDFs into clean markdown for AI chat tools. Drag a PDF in, get a .md file out, paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor at a fraction of the token cost. Everything runs on-device. One-time purchase, no subscription.

Long description (150 words)

ContextDrop solves a small but recurring annoyance for anyone using AI chat tools every day: pasting in a PDF eats your chat's context window faster than you'd expect, and the upload limits cap how many you can attach. ContextDrop converts PDFs to clean markdown in a single drag-and-drop on your Mac. Heading detection, table preservation, header and footer suppression, and Apple Vision OCR for scanned pages. Everything runs locally. No account, no uploads, nothing leaves the machine. It's built as a native Objective-C app wrapping a sandboxed WKWebView running pdf.js, with a PDFKit fallback for documents pdf.js can't parse. The whole app is 752 KB on disk. No Electron, no bundled Python. A one-time US$6.99 purchase via Polar, or US$7.99 via the Mac App Store. No subscription.

Ready quotes

"Got tired of running out of chat length and hitting PDF upload limits in Claude and ChatGPT. Built the lightest, fastest version of the conversion I could think of. Drag a PDF in, get markdown out, paste it wherever you want."

— Anthony Fitzgerald, ContextDrop

"Runs on your Mac. No account, no uploads, nothing leaves your machine. I didn't want to be the kind of app that holds onto your files, and you didn't want me to. So I built it not to."

— Anthony Fitzgerald, ContextDrop
